Drowning
A 69-year-old Minnesota man drowned after his boat capsized in Lake of the Woods waters, authorities said. The Lake of the Woods Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 3:41 p.m. Oct. 18 for a capsized boat. The Sheriff’s Office says Brian Herridge and Lorie Bryngelson of Colorado were pulled from the water by people in a different boat. Paramedics rushed both to Lakewood Health Center in Baudette, where life-saving measures were attempted, but Herridge was later pronounced dead. Bryngelson was treated for exposure; authorities did not provide a report on her current condition. At the time of the incident, the water temperature was 48 degrees. On November 5, the 26-foot aluminum flat-bottom jet boat was recovered 1.5 miles outside the Gap on Lake of the Woods. TowBoatUS, divers, and sheriff’s deputies recovered the boat. The incident remains under investigation. Authorities are treating the death as an accidental drowning pending full autopsy results.
