Grass Fires

Park Rapids Fire Department responded to three separate fires on Wednesday May 13. At 10:15 a.m., crews responded to a grass fire north of Park Rapids on County Road 46. The fire burned roughly 30 acres. At 4:04 p.m., firefighters were called to a reported structure fire southeast of town along State Highway 87. Crews remained on scene until 6:20 p.m., then split resources to respond to another grass fire. The day’s third call came at 6:05 p.m., when firefighters were paged to a grass fire burning on both sides of Highway 64 south of Akeley. No information was immediately available on damage estimates or injuries. Fire officials did not release a cause for any of the fires. Multiple agencies assisted.
