House Fire

A house fire in Park Rapids, Minnesota displaced several people Saturday and killed one dog, according to the Park Rapids Fire Department. Members of the Park Rapids Fire Department were dispatched to the scene at 4:08 p.m. Saturday to a report of a house on fire. Firefighters arrived and found an attached garage on fire. Three dogs were rescued. A fourth dog was found deceased inside the structure. Investigators learned there was a cardboard box of chicken chicks with a heat lamp located outside adjacent to the garage. An extension cord ran out a garage window to power the heat lamp. Burn patterns indicate the cause likely started with the extension cord, but not definitively. The home appears to be a complete loss due to the fire extension into the attic and interior structural collapse. Several people were displaced by the fire.
