Two people suffered minor injuries Tuesday evening after a portable heater sparked a house fire in Miltona. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Miltona Fire Department responded to 252 Elm St. N around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities say the fire started when a portable heater was placed under the home to thaw frozen water pipes. The fire is not considered suspicious. The two people with minor injuries were taken to Alomere Health. The State Fire Marshal has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
