A Perham man was taken into custody Saturday afternoon, August 15, after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase through Becker County in a stolen vehicle, the Becker County Sheriff’s Office said. The pursuit began around 1:27 p.m. After a Flock camera alerted authorities that a stolen 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck—reported stolen out of Fargo — was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 10 in Detroit Lakes. Officers from the Detroit Lakes Police Department, Becker County Sheriff’s Office and Callaway Police Department located the vehicle. After confirming the vehicle was stolen, the driver fled north on U.S. Highway 59 at speeds exceeding 90 miles per hour. The vehicle then traveled west on Wheeler Lake Road, south on 230th Avenue, and back to U.S. Highway 10, where it continued west in the eastbound lane. When the vehicle turned south onto County Highway 11, an officer performed a PIT maneuver, ending the pursuit. The driver, 37 year old Cody Willson, of Perham, was taken into custody. No injuries were reported. Willson was booked into jail with charges pending. The case remains under investigation.
