Utility crews will begin installing overhead power lines across Highway 29 starting Wednesday, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The work, which is set to take place south of Alexandria and I-94 east of the Burgen Lake Rest Area, is weather permitting. Lane closures are scheduled for June 3-6 on Highway 29 near the I-94 interchange. Additional lane closures in both directions are expected along I-94 east of the Burgen Lake Rest Area from June 8-10. MnDOT is notifying drivers that traffic will be stopped periodically for up to 15 minutes when power lines are installed across each highway. The department is also reminding drivers to slow down in work zones, avoid distractions, and obey traffic control. All work and traffic impacts are weather-dependent and subject to change.
