A woman was killed in a crash Sunday evening, September 6, on Highway 59 in Erhards Grove Township, according to the Minnesota State Patrol, which labeled the incident a fatal crash. The crash happened at 4:50 p.m. near mile marker 235, the State Patrol said. A 2015 Volkswagen Passat was traveling southbound on Highway 59 and a 2004 Buick Regal was traveling northbound when the two vehicles collided, according to the report. Road conditions were wet at the time, the State Patrol said. The driver of the Buick, a 51-year-old woman from Pelican Rapids, was killed in the crash, according to the State Patrol. Her name will be released Monday at 10 a.m., the report said. The driver of the Volkswagen, 25-year-old Jacob Lee Thatcher of Fergus Falls, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Fergus Falls ER, according to the report. The State Patrol said Thatcher was wearing a seat belt, and alcohol is suspected in the crash.
