Two Duck Hunters Rescued After Boat Capsized

Two duck hunters were rescued Sunday morning after their boat capsized on Lake Alvin, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 9:57 a.m. reporting a capsized boat with two duck hunters in the water on the north side of Lake Alvin. 23 year old Ashten Buseman, of Alexandria, Minnesota, and 22 year old Ty Weller also  of Alexandria, Minnesota, were duck hunting when their boat capsized. A Conservation Officer with the Minnesota DNR and Douglas County Deputies responded to locate and rescue the two hunters. Deputies found Buseman on the Arrowwood Resort Golf Course. He told deputies that Weller was still in the water near the capsized boat. The Conservation Officer with the Minnesota DNR and Douglas County Deputies used a DNR shallow water boat to locate and rescue Weller at 10:11 a.m. Both hunters received medical attention on scene. This is the second time in a year that MN DNR and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office have rescued duck hunters from a significantly overloaded boat while in cold water.
